"Songs for my Grandfather" Written and Performed by Kristen Kelso Directed by Maddie Barr

PS Alum, Kristen Kelso (M.A. '20), will present "Songs for my Grandfather" as part of the Emerging Artists Theatre Festival on March 11 at 7 pm. at the 28th Street Theatre (TADA), 15 W. 28th Street. This piece has been experimented with, and presented in various forms since it's inception in the Fall of 2019 (while Kelso was in the Performance Studies program). It is sort of a living document on grief. Now a one-woman show, the audience will find themselves at an open mic night, where it's uncertain if the artist will make it through one song.

Description on the Emerging Artist Theatre's website: "At her late grandfather's tribute performance, a mourning granddaughter attempts to play just one song in his honor. The only issue is - she hasn't played in public in sixteen years. One woman's tragically comic journey of self-love, loss, and what happens when you return to your "gifts."Written and Performed by Kristen Kelso Directed by Maddie Barr.
