PS Alum, Fernando Calzadilla (MA '00, Ph.D. '12) presents his first solo exhibition titled "Goddesses: Looking or Looked At" at the Arts Connection Foundation in Miami, Fl. The exibition will run from January 13 to March 2. His innovative approach presents “expanded practices” that weave performance, painting, portraiture, theatricality, and photography into a unique and impactful artistic proposal.
Throughout this artwork he questions genre and gender with the conviction that there are no absolutes; that everything moves on a circular continuum, where distinctions are simply different intensities of one thing. He question the division between process and product; the role of the artist, partaker, and spectator; and the end of performance.
Fernando Calzadilla is a theater designer, dramaturg, visual artist, performance artist and scholar who weaves practice with theory; his practice comprises theatre, performance, ethnography, visual arts, philosophy, and communication processes from the Performance Studies perspective.
