Christine Balance (Ph.D. '07)
Performance Studies alum Christine Bacareza Balance (Ph.D. '07) will be joining the faculty of the Asian American Studies Program at Cornell University in Fall 2018. She will hold a joint appointment through the Asian American Studies Program and the Department of Performing and Media Arts. Professor Balance is currently an associate professor of Asian American studies at the University of California, Irvine, and was previously a faculty fellow at Cornell’s Society for the Humanities during the 2014-2015 academic year. She is the author of Tropical Renditions: Making Musical Scenes in Filipino America (Duke University Press, 2016), and her writing has appeared in Social Text, Women’s Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Popular Music Studies, Women and Performance: A Feminist Journal, the Journal of Asian American Studies (JAAS), and Theatre Journal, and online in In Media Res.
