Akshita Bawa

Akshita is a visual artist from New Delhi, India currently living in Brooklyn. With a background in Fashion Technology and filmmaking, she has been involved in wearable technology, apparel production and filmmaking. At ITP, her projects explored experience design, journalism, data visualization, interactive storytelling, and game design. 

For her thesis, she created a simulated interactive-installation with traditional fabrics that showed how colonial powers shaped the Indian subcontinent, affecting its citizens' lives for generations. 

As a resident, she wishes to explore how traditional handmade fabrics can be used with technologies that normally aren’t associated with textiles. Outside of school, she loves reading historic biographies and memoirs, playing games, and cooking.
