Jesuit priest Father Sam Feeney finds himself miserable in his current position. The passion he once held has slowly faded and through his alcohol abuse and complacency has become a shell of his former self.  The world around him is changing and Sam questions his importance and ability to serve a shifting parish. As Sam struggles with the monotony of his schedule, he finds himself advising a young woman through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through their meetings, Sam begins to question his role in the Church, as her situation mirrors his, the advice he gives and the advice he follows are seemingly contradictory. As Sam further loses touch with reality, will he have the courage to act for himself or fall back into the pattern of desperation and confusion?
