Artemis Shaw is a Greek-American filmmaker and educator whose work spans interactive, documentary, and narrative filmmaking. She is currently a thesis student at NYU Tisch Graduate Film and Head of Creative Development at the NYU Production Lab. She began her career as a researcher on the women’s lib documentary ​She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry​ and was assistant to Josephine Decker, associate producing her 2014 film ​Thou Wast Mild and Lovely.​ Most recently, she associate produced Tayarisha Poe's ​Selah and the Spades, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019​. As a director, her films here premiered at the Seattle International, Maryland, and Sarasota Film Festivals, and online on Short of the Week and NoBudge. As an educator, she has taught art history, filmmaking and media studies at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ghetto Film School, Museum of the Moving Image, and Tribeca Film Institute. She graduated with honors in Art History from Columbia University and has an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
