Yonca Talu is a filmmaker and film critic living in Paris. She grew up in Istanbul, where she made short films in French, English, and Turkish, and graduated from NYU Tisch's Film & TV program in 2016. She is a regular contributor to Film Comment magazine and is currently doing research at École normale supérieure on historical trauma in film under Antoine de Baecque's direction. Where's the Fire is her NYU thesis film.
