NICHOLAS COLIA is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, theater director, and performer. He is currently attending NYU's Graduate Filmmaking Program and his recent short films include the comedies Alex and the Handyman, Untitled Short Film About White People, Starring Roman, No Friends, and Miriam Fond: Performance Coach, which premiered at the New Orleans Film Festival last month. He is an alum of Sarah Lawrence College where he studied theater and film and of the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center where he studied directing. Prior to attending NYU, he worked as as assistant director off-Broadway and at the O'Neill, working with directors including Jason Moore and Mark Brokaw on new works from writers including Nicky Silver, Michael Friedman, Jeff Whitty, Jordan Harrison, and the Scissor Sisters. Originally from Massachusetts, Nicholas founded his own production company at age thirteen, spending his early teen years directing farces from writers like Woody Allen and Elaine May and his later teen years directing all student features film remakes of films by Martin Scorsese and David O. Russell (it's as weird as it sounds). He is currently writing a feature comedy about intern revenge with NYU alum Laura Terruso (Hello My Name Is Doris) and a comedy pilot about his experiences at Sarah Lawrence.
