How To Apply

We can't wait to meet you!

Our admissions process is the key to getting to know you as both an artist and a person.

All 2018 application and artistic review information, including dates, locations, requirements and deadlines, can be found below. Our SlideRoom portal is open and our artistic review scheduler is live. Please drop us a line if you have any questions or come for a visit!

Applying to Tisch Drama requires two actions: submitting the Common Application to NYU and participating in an artistic review. The process is outlined below:

3 STEPS TO YOUR ARTISTIC REVIEW:

STEP 1: APPLY TO NYU

You must submit the Common Application before you can schedule an artistic review session.

We recommend that you submit your application in advance, as fewer sessions will be available as the deadline approaches.

The deadline to schedule your artistic review is either the same as the Common Application deadline or immediately thereafter and is STRICTLY enforced.

As artistic reviews begin shortly after the corresponding application deadline, we encourage you to follow the recommended deadlines below in order to secure your desired date and location:

COMMON APPLICATION DEADLINES

NOTIFICATION PLAN ACTUAL DEADLINE RECOMMENDED DEADLINE
Early Decision November 1 October 15
Early Decision II January 1 December 1
Regular Decision January 1 December 1
Current NYU Students March 1 February 1
External Transfers April 1 March 1

Please understand the recommended deadlines make the process easier for our applicants. NYU Undergraduate Admissions will still accept applications up until the actual deadlines.

In the NYU-specific questions on the Common Application, you will be asked a series of questions which will lead you to the NYU Tisch Drama SlideRoom portal. Read STEP 2: UPLOAD YOUR MATERIALS below for more information.

STEP 2: UPLOAD YOUR MATERIALS

In the NYU-specific questions on the Common Application, you will be asked a series of questions which will lead you to the NYU Tisch Drama SlideRoom portal. After choosing TISCH, then DRAMA, you will see this question:

"Applicants to the artistic programs at NYU, including the one which you indicated above, are required to audition or submit a creative portfolio. You can begin the process by linking your Common Application with SlideRoom. Select 'Yes' to link your Common Application to SlideRoom."

Once you select YES, you will see INSTRUCTIONS pop up under PORTFOLIO in the lefthand column. Click on INSTRUCTIONS to access the NYU TISCH DRAMA button on the list of departmental SlideRoom portals.

IMPORTANT

Once you arrive at the SlideRoom portal, please bookmark the page and return to completing the Common Application.

** You must submit the Common Application BEFORE you will be permitted to submit materials on SlideRoom.**

ALL candidates will create an account and provide artistic review materials via SlideRoom, which include:

  • photo and résumé
  • information about your monologues, songs or portfolios
  • answers to some basic questions
  • artistic review fee
  • If you are a digital applicant, you will upload your required videos or portfolio to SlideRoom

An artistic review fee of $95 must be submitted along with your SlideRoom material. Please know that SlideRoom charges a $5 usage fee. If you received a Common Application fee waiver or are a current NYU student, you will not be required to pay the artistic review fee or the SlideRoom fee.

Digital submission candidates will also upload the required videos for their discipline to SlideRoom.

STEP 3: SCHEDULE YOUR ARTISTIC REVIEW

A few days after you submit the Common Application, you will receive an email from NYU with a personalized link to the artistic review scheduler. You must schedule your artistic review by the deadlines below.
