You must submit the Common Application before you can begin the Artistic Review process.  

We recommend you submit your application at least one month in advance of the posted deadlines, as opportunities to schedule artistic reviews grow more limited as deadlines approach, and for our Regular Decision–Acting and Regular Decision–Musical Theatre applicants your digital materials will need to be reviewed before scheduling a live artistic review, as outlined in the Artistic Review Guidelines.

The deadline to schedule your artistic review is almost immediately after the Common Application deadline and is STRICTLY enforced.

As artistic reviews begin shortly after the corresponding application deadline, we encourage you to follow the recommended application deadlines below in order to secure your desired date and location:

COMMON APPLICATION DEADLINES

Please understand the recommended deadlines make the process easier for our applicants. NYU Undergraduate Admissions will still accept applications up until the actual deadlines.

A couple of days after you submit the Common App, you will receive an email from NYU with a personalized link to the Drama Artistic Review portal. Read STEP 2: ACCESS THE DRAMA ARTISTIC REVIEW PORTAL below for more information.

A couple of days after you submit the Common App, you will receive an email from NYU with a personalized link to the Drama Artistic Review portal. 

All candidates must access the Drama Artistic Review portal to schedule their artistic reviews and provide artistic review materials, which include:

• résumé (a personal photo or headshot is not required)
• information about your monologues, songs or portfolios
• answers to some basic questions
• artistic review fee
• If you are a digital applicant, you will upload a media portfolio (e.g., required videos or portfolio material) to the Drama Artistic Review portal.

For Regular Decision–Acting and Regular Decision–Musical Theatre applicants only: Please note that our artistic review guidelines for these disciplines have changed for the Regular Decision artistic review period, and an additional video submission upload is required. Please visit the respective discipline’s Artistic Review Guidelines for detailed information on the artistic review submission process for this decision period.

For all applicants, an artistic review fee of $125 ($115 artistic review fee + $10 service fee) must be submitted along with material outlined above. If you received a Common App fee waiver or are a current NYU student, you will not be required to pay the artistic review fee.

Digital submission candidates must submit their media portfolio according to the corresponding deadlines on the Digital Submissions page. If your media portfolio is not received by the deadline listed, your artistic review will be considered incomplete and you will forfeit your application to NYU.

A few days after you submit the Common Application, you will receive an email from NYU with a personalized link to the Drama Artistic Review portal. You must schedule your artistic review by the deadlines below. 

2026 DEADLINES TO SCHEDULE ARTISTIC REVIEW

*For Regular Decision–Acting and Regular Decision–Musical Theatre applicants, you must submit your required Phase 1 artistic review video submission first by January 12, 2026 9AM EST. After it has been reviewed, if invited, you will then schedule a live in-person/digital artistic review on your Drama Artistic Review Portal by the posted Regular Decision scheduling date deadline above. We strongly recommend applying early and uploading your Phase 1 video submission as soon as your portal opens to secure your preferred Phase 2 artistic review date (if invited). Please refer to ARTISTIC REVIEW GUIDELINES for more information.

You will actually reserve a morning or afternoon artistic review session which typically lasts about 3.5 hours. The session time is your check-in time.

Failure to schedule your artistic review by the deadline will result in forfeiture of your NYU application.
