M.L. Geiger is designing the lighting for 2 short plays by Harold Pinter (THE LOVER, and THE COLLECTION) directed by Michael Kahn at he Shakespeare Theate in Washington, DC. Previews begin 9/26.

Susan Hilferty is in production for Richard Nelson’s Illyria at the Public and Turn Me Loose at the Wallis Annenberg Center in LA.  She is designing La Traviata at the Met which, though it opens in Dec 2018, goes into production this Autumn.  Christine Jones is designing the set. Susan is in pre-production for An Ordinary Muslim at New York Theatre Workshop. She is thrilled to be back from sabbatical to celebrate the work of all the students, faculty and staff of the Design Department.

Allen Lee Hughes travels to Washington, DC to tech and open The Price by Arthur Miller at Arena Stage in the Kogod Cradle.  The production will be directed by Seema Sueko with Set designer Wilson Chin, Costume Designer Ivania Stack, and Sound Designer Roc Lee. Actors include Hal Linden, Pearl Sun, Maboud Ebrahimzadeh and Rafael Untalan. The production will open on October 12th and marks Allen's 70th design at Arena Stage.

Christine Jones is currently working on the NYC production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child along with Brett Banakis. She is also designing La Traviata for the Metropolitan Opera's 2019 Season, and has recently begun a new project - The Cher Show, which she will co-design with Brett Banakis.

Hugh Landwehr This summer, Hugh Landwehr designed The 39 Steps at the Alley Theatre in Houston. He is presently working on You Can’t Take It with You for the Resident Ensemble Players at the University of Delaware and a production of The Importance of being Earnest at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.

Chris Muller spent the summer creating concept designs for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, as well as for a comedy festival, and a modern art-themed cruise. His illustrations for the Santa Fe Opera's production of 'The Golden Cockerel' were projected across its set this summer (projections designed by alum Driscoll Otto), as were his illustrations for the new opera 'The Summer King,' with projections designed by Darrell Maloney, sets by Andrew Lieberman, and directed by Sam Helfrich. In his free time, Chris declared this the summer of gouache, and spent time earnestly filling a sketchbook with landscape paintings.

Gail Segal’s feature film project (writer/director) Forces of Nature landed a French producer -- Jérôme Blesson, of uniFrance Films. Feature film project (writer/director) cast the lead of Lila Rose - bluegrass wonder, Noah Wall.

Paul Steinberg designed the sets for M Butterfly, directed by Julie Taymor with costume designs by Constance Hoffman. It is in rehearsal and will open in October. His set for The Twilight Zone by Ann Washburn and directed by Richard Jones is in process. It will be this year’s Christmas show at the Almeida Theater in London.

Robert Wierzel is designing lighting for We Shall Not Be Moved, a hybrid opera in 3 acts with music composed by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR); libretto by Marc Bamuthi Joseph; conducted by Viswa Subbaraman; directed & choreographed by Bill T. Jones; scenery by Matt Saunders; costumes by Liz Prince; projections by Jorge Cousineau; sound by Robert Kaplowitz.  Produced by Opera Philadelphia @ The Wilma Theatre. Co-production with the Apollo Theatre, NYC and the Hackney Empire Theatre, London UK.  World premiere.  9/17.  10/17. He is also designing lighting A Letter to My Nephew, a full evening piece directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones with Janet Wong and the BTJ/AZ Company; original score composed by Nick Hallett; décor by Bjorn Amelan; costumes by Liz Prince; sound by Sam Crawford. Brooklyn Academy of Music, Harvey Theatre. 10/17. Finally, he is designing lighting for Eugene Onegin, an opera by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky; directed by Tomer Zvulum; scenery by Erhard Rom (NYU Alum); principal costumes by Victoria (Vita) Tzykun. Lyric Opera of Kanas City. 10/17.
