In February 2024, André M. Zachery, Tisch Dance Assistant Arts Professor, was the Roser Visiting Artist Resident at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The mission of the Roser Visiting Artist Endowment is to enrich the lives and education of students at the University of Colorado Boulder in music, theatre and dance, fine arts and film studies, by funding visiting professional artists who have a demonstrated record of excellence and a commitment to working with students. This enrichment and interaction will be fostered by the Artists' collaboration in the creative process with students and faculty.
André taught contemporary dance technique classes for the department and was a guest lecturer in undergraduate and graduate courses within and outside the department. André choreographed a new work for students in the CU Department of Dance entitled “Standing on the Wheels of Time” with sound composition and design by collaborator LaMont Hamilton which is set to premiere from April 11-14 as part of the “The Current” program at the Roe Green Theater at CU Boulder.
André and LaMont also gave a lecture part of the VAST: Visiting Artist & Scholar Talks organized by the Department of Critical Media Practices which was followed by their Blk Sonic Mvmnt Lab workshop in the B2 Center for Media, Arts & Performance in ATLAS Institute.
