Title: City, Space, and Screen: Reconfiguring the History of Times Square
Supervisor: Anna McCarthy
In focusing on the development of urban screens in Times Square between 1908 to the present, I offer a new history of the Great White Way by examining the influence of global capitalism on public space, architecture, corporate advertising, military powers, and video-games.
Bio
Anthony Dominguez is a PhD candidate in Cinema Studies at NYU Tisch. He holds an MA in Film Studies from The Graduate Center City University of New York, and a BA in English and Film from the University at Albany. His research includes urban screens; Japanese media; Black nerd culture; and the late-cinema of Jean-Luc Godard.
