Lan Linh Nguyen Hoai, New Museum, Summer 2019, NEH

In Summer 2019, I was assigned to complete my 350-hour internship at the New Museum Archives in New York City. The New Museum Archives received a CLIR grant to digitize a selection of analog audiovisual recordings. Alongside this project in 2018, the museum's Archives Research Fellow has been processing the records of our Education and Public Engagement department, dating back to the late 1970s. This process has included compiling documentation of the New Museum’s programs with the objective of presenting and contextualizing this new body of research and digitized archival recordings within the New Museum’s Digital Archive, and other digital platforms. Supporting this project, I performed quality assurance, metadata embedding, light productions on newly digitized audiovisual access recordings; import and catalog assets int he New Museum's Digital Archive via its Collective Access database; provided research to support fellows and curators in developing content for the Digital Archive records and newly launched digital publishing platform ATLAS; collaborated with Archives team and Social Media Associate in developing editing content for social media campaigns. I specifically dedicated the most amount of my work to the museum's Bowery Artist Tribute project and the Spring exhibitions in 2019.
