Ashley Swinnerton, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - Margaret Herrick Library, Summer 2010, IMLS
During the course of her summer internship at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Margaret Herrick Library, Ashley Swinnerton, learned to properly care for, store, and catalogue archival audio materials, including most formats of tape and disc recordings. She gained hands-on experience cleaning, housing, and processing real collection holdings at the Library, as well as exploring digitization, reformatting, and digital asset management standards. Additionally, the intern worked on the Academy’s extensive Oral History collection, in an effort to preserve the rich stories behind and about these collections of moving image and sound artifacts.
