Michael Stetz, GBH, Spring 2021
I worked at the Boston-based public broadcasting organization GBH's Media Library and Archive as a Quality Control and Cataloging Intern. While there, I learned best practices for applying subject headings and other metadata fields to a wide variety of interesting programs such as Frontline and NOVA. I also received a crash course in utilizing software to help distinguish between superior digitized files in order to provide the highest quality audio and visual materials for GBH's archive. Finally, I gained a detailed understanding of how these materials can be reused and repurposed in new programs for GBH, highlighting how archives are crucial in helping the creation of new artistic and educational works.
