Adam Andre, Major League Baseball, Spring 2017

I interned at the Major League Baseball Film and Video Library and Archive in the Spring. It was an interesting and valuable experience working in a corporate environment where the audiovisual materials embodied a league's legacy and also a business asset. MLB is in the middle of the arduous process of digitizing the entire audio and video collections, with a particular focus on game tapes and highlight reels. I was in charge of digitizing audio recordings of the 1994 St. Louis Cardinals. I helped with the accession of two large video collections from the New York Mets and Miami Marlins by selecting game tapes and shelving them in the appropriate order. Once digitization was complete, I checked files in the digital asset management system for transfer quality. I also improved the quality of MLB's database by researching and entering game dates for hundreds of records.
