Julio Cabrio, Human Rights Watch, Spring 2016
During the spring semester of 2016 I interned at the Multimedia Department of the New York offices of Human Rights Watch, located in the Empire State Building. I worked closely with the Archivist, Nicole Martin (MIAP, '08), and under her supervision I was involved in projects related to digital asset management system, the Dinners collection (2008-2009), and the digital collection of US Immigration. The tasks performed were all challenging and diverse and they were very valuable to develop skills on basic digital archival tools and digital preservation principles. These tasks were primarily processing and digitizing MiniDV, DVCam, and HDV formats, as well as cataloging, improving metadata, and running checksums on born-digital materials.
