At JDC I processed over 300 video tapes from their extensive moving image collection, watching every one of them, taking down all the relevant metadata, making content descriptions and creating over 500 entries into their digital asset management systems. This collection consisted primarily of videos recording JDC's good works over the last 40 years in Africa, helping Jewish Ethiopians migrate to Israel and giving food, shelter and medical supplies to Rwandan refugees, among many other international crises. Now, researchers will be able to search a detailed relational database of JDC's moving images and JDC has a roadmap for how to continue processing its collection.
