In my time at the Shigeko Kubota Video Art Foundation, I was able to inventory the contents of the Virtual Archive hard drives and the Betacams in the collection. I also conducted research and screened a significant number of digitized assets, both from the hard drives and what is available via the site's Vimeo. I inventoried and cataloged in Airtable, a platform I was familiar with but that I learned to work with in new ways for this internship.
I ended up creating a poster presentation which will be part of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) 53rd annual conference from May 12-16, 2025 based on research I did into Shigeko and her art! This internship provided a fantastic experience in getting to work with a specialized collection of magnetic media-based artworks while further learning about preservation and conservation concerns. I'll always look back on this internship fondly and hope to get the chance to continue working with this collection in the future!
