Art and Public Policy Professor Karen Finley was interviewed by Tanya O'Debra about her performance, COVID VORTEX ANXIETY OPERA KITTY KALEIDOSCOPE DISCO at the Laurie Beechman Theater! On the creation of the project, Karen said:
"It’s about processing the last past few years of the pandemic, moving forward, and going through different areas or subject headings, emotions, and events that happened during the pandemic. I perform a poetic text and there is music and film and video. I go through different scenes dealing with washing hands, or dealing with mourning and grief, and so the audience then follows along with me. The setting is in a dinner theater, so that’s part of the charm of being in New York. It’s supposed to highlight the act of going to theater and how wonderful that is. I think that the theater itself and the act of going to the performance itself is part of the performance."
