Arts Politics Alumna's Photos Featured on NPR

APP '20 alumna Laylah Amatullah Barrayn has a photography series about Black love that was recently featured on NPR. The series is all about exploring the interplay between critical theory and creative practice.

In the midst of social engagement only available virtually that 2020 created the circumstances for, Laylah noticed how online communities on a variety of social media platforms were engaging with a theoretical text she loved during her undergraduate tenure at NYU - "all about love" by bell hooks. Newfound broad conversation about the book inspired Laylah to create a photo series all about Black love.
