Arts Politics Alumna's Collective Opens New Brooklyn Studio

Friday, Mar 18, 2022

APP '19 Jordyn Jay celebrated the grand opening of a studio for her organization Black Trans Femmes in the Arts (BTFA) Collective. This space will allow for marginalized communities to commune in a new art-activism space.

BTFA Studios required over a year of planning and designing. It is a 2100+ sq ft space in the Brooklyn Navy Yards that will house BTFA's offices, conference room, co-working/lounge space, a photo/video studio, and a private visual arts studio for their artists-in-residence. This grand opening not only marks an expansion in BTFA’s capacity and services as an organization, but also a trailblazing moment for the trans community, as a public arts studio and communal space that is owned by, operated by, and free to Black trans femmes.

Jay celebrated opening with a launch party at the studio. The party featured DJs from BTFA's network, food, and drinks, all while giving guests an exclusive sneak peek of the studio. All can now engage with the organization at 141 Flushing Avenue, Suite 1319, Brooklyn, NY, 11205.
