Professor Grace Aneiza Ali published new book Rituals, Remembrance, Rupture, and Repair: The Jhandi Flag in Contemporary Guyanese Art.

She looks at the work of three contemporary Guyanese artists and their employment of the jhandi flag, transcending notions of Hindu Indian religious symbolism, not in defiance of religious practices that are still observed, but to add layers to their symbolism. These artists illustrate how jhandi flags function today as contemporary tools of remembrance, rupture, and repair.
