The NYU Reynolds Program in Social Entrepreneurship and Cavendish Global
are pleased to present the final installment of the
10th Annual Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century Speaker Series!

Join us on April 21 at 6:30pm for Voiceless Children: The Civil Rights Struggle That Never Began with Peter Samuelson, President of First Star Academies, and Soledad O'Brien, CEO of Starfish Media Group.

Over 400,000 abused and neglected children in U.S. foster care have few ways to shape their destinies. They can be seen as an entire victim class without an influential lobby, access to capital, the power of the vote, or the opportunity to drive change. Personal privacy laws designed to protect children also serve to protect an $80 billion a year status quo. As a result, a troubled system remains unfixed, leading to generational replication, 1,300 child deaths a year, a 3% college graduation rate, and over 50% ending up homeless, incarcerated or on welfare within two years of aging out. What can we do to help change this?
