How to Apply for a Tisch Minor

For questions on Tisch Minors in Producing, Documentary, Film Production, Game Design, Dance, Performance Studies, and Interactive Media Arts, please contact tisch.minors@nyu.edu.

Students can declare a cross-school Minor through Albert. Students who want to drop their cross-school minor can also do so through Albert. For further information by school, please see below:

Policies and Procedures by School

Tisch STUDENTS

  • Visit the Office of the Registrar for more information on applying for a Tisch minor.

  • Tisch Academic Services will allocate the minor onto your record and it will then become part of your degree requirements.

  • It is your responsibility to make sure you satisfy the requirements for the minor by your intended term of graduation.

  • Effective spring 2015, students who have any combination of Tisch majors and minors will only be permitted to count one course towards both areas.

Steinhardt Students

  • Steinhardt students may not use major/specialization credits to satisfy "minor" requirements.

  • Obtain your Advisor's approval.

  • Visit the Office of the Registrar for more information on applying for a cross-school minor.

  • Once everything is approved, Steinhardt will allocate the minor onto your record and it will then become part of your degree requirements.

  • It is your responsibility to make sure you satisfy the requirements for the minor by your intended term of graduation.

STERN STUDENTS

  • Once everything is approved, Stern will allocate the minor onto your record and it will then become part of your degree requirements.

  • It is your responsibility to make sure you satisfy the requirements for the minor by your intended term of graduation.

COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE STUDENTS

CAS students are permitted to take a maximum of 16 units from other divisions of the University. Please note that the Tisch courses that CAS students take as part of this minor will count toward those 16 units.

  • Once everything is approved, CAS will allocate the minor onto your record and it will then become part of your degree requirements.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure you satisfy the requirements for the minor by your intended term of graduation.

GALLATIN STUDENTS

  • Once everything is approved, Gallatin will allocate the minor onto your record and it will then become part of your degree requirements.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure you satisfy the requirements for the minor by your intended term of graduation.

Tandon School of Engineering Students

  • Visit Minors at Tandon for more information about Cross-School Minors.

  • Obtain your Advisor's approval.
