Commedia dell'Arte Info Session

Summer 2018 Commedia dell'Arte students during a dress rehearsal at the Villa la Pietra in Florence

Learn about the summer study abroad program Commedia dell'Arte in Florence by attending an in-person info session on Thursday, November 3 at 6:30 PM. Meet Jim Calder, head of movement in Tisch Graduate Acting and the instructor for this intensive acting workshop. You will also have an opportunity to speak with program alumni.

The summer program explores the influence of comedy in Shakespeare and Molière. Specialized areas of professional training include mask work, circus skills, scene improvisation, individual lazzi (bits and specialty acts), and the search for one’s own clown work. Scene work consists of scenarios, texts, and lazzi from the 17th century, as well as the development of scenarios from present-day topics and texts.
