When our undergduate students are in their final semester of course work they take Capstone as a culmination of their PS coursework. This course is lead by our Director of Undergraduate Studies and each student produces a project that builds on a research paper/project that they originated in another PS course, with the goal of extending, refining, and further developing it in order to synthesize what they have learned, as well as further hone their research, analysis, and writing skills. Then the students share their projects/papers in a public symposium.
Our undergraduate and graduate students produce some incredible work in their Performance Studies classes. Take a look at the galleries below to learn more about what goes on in our PS classroom!
Due to a year of virtual course work, our B.A. Representatives felt like PS undergruadate students were having a hard time meeting and getting to know PS students that were not in their classes. To help students get to know each other and learn about thei areas of interest of their classmates, the Reps developed the Student Work Exhibition. They wantes to make a space for students to share their creative work from PS classes in an open forum. The department hopes to keep this annual event going when we return to in person classes to help our students continue to build a strong community.
