Nora Thompson
Ph.D. Candidate
Nora Raine Thompson is a writer, dance-maker, and performer. She dances, writes, and attempts impossible tasks to experiment with ways of gently dismantling constructions of selfhood. In her several years in New York City, she has choreographed for theater, created and produced solo and collaborative work, taught improvisation workshops, and worked in various dramaturgical and administrative roles, including with Eiko Otake, Abrons Arts Center, Ballez, and Danspace Project. Nora’s writing on performance has been featured in The Brooklyn Rail, Dance Enthusiast, and Danspace Project’s Journal. Nora received her B.A. from Wesleyan University and M.A. in Performance Studies from NYU Tisch.
Why PS @NYU?
Performance Studies offers me the chance to engage creatively and rigorously with seemingly disparate (but very much connected) things, like improvisational dance, Deleuzian thought, poetry, abolitionist politics, friendship, and rocks. And more.
