PS Alum Melissa West (MA '14) recently sat down with Abun(dance), a podcast on dance, to chat about her work as a dance artist, curator, and community organizer on Staten Island. West creates dance work that explores the tensions between space, place, and the self, while her curatorial focus is on site-based projects in non-traditional venues.
Melissa West is the Director & Senior Curator of the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art at Snug Harbor. West is also a recent recipient of the inaugural Mertz Gilmore Dance Research Grant through Staten Island Arts (2023) and is creating new work with the Wagner College dance department.
