How to Make an Object Speak in Tongues: An Artist Talk with Keioui Keijaun Thomas

Keioui

NYU’s Performance Studies Department is thrilled to welcome Keioui Keijaun Thomas to the department for ‘How to Make an Object Speak in Tongues' on Thursday, November 10th at 7pm ET. This event will include an artist talk featuring screenings of selected work from Keioui Keijaun Thomas followed by a brief Q&A and discussion between Thomas and PS Alum and Adjunct instructor, Ethan Philbrick.

Keioui Keijaun Thomas creates live performance and multimedia installations that deconstruct and reconstruct notions of blackness, visibility, hyper-visibility, passing, trespassing, eroticization, marginalization, disposability, and domesticity. Her performances combine rhapsodic layers of live and recorded voice, slipping between various modes of address, exploring the pleasures and pressures of dependency, care, and support.
