Graduate Scholarship
“Some will say that all we have are the pleasures of the moment, but we must never settle for that minimal transport; we must dream and enact new and better pleasures, other ways of being in the world, and ultimately new worlds.” –José Esteban Muñoz
The José Esteban Muñoz Memorial Scholarship was established to nurture the kinds of worldmaking dreams and actions to which our beloved colleague was committed. The purpose of the Scholarship is to support the creation and/or study of queer-of-color performance that allows us to imagine new ways of being in the world. This scholarship opportunity is open to all interested candidates, regardless of racial or gender identity or sexual orientation. Scholarship recipients will be chosen through a selection process where applicants are asked to demonstrate through their prior scholarship and/or performance work a commitment to exploring new understandings and expressions of racial, gender, and sexual identities and relations.
