Shannon Woods
M.A. '19
Originally from Massachusetts, Shannon trained at the Boston Ballet School before graduating magna cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College in 2015. There she received a BFA in Dance and graduated with Honors in the major of her work in English & World Literatures. Shannon is currently a New York-based contemporary freelance dancer and a company member of both WorkHorse Dance Project and De Funes Dance. She is also a research editor for Dance Magazine, Pointe, Dance Teacher and Dance Spirit. As a scholar, Shannon is interested the woman's body as a mode of narration in both literature and dance, most prominently through the lens of the French feminist critics' l'écriture feminine.
