Jeongyun Lee

Jeongyun Lee is an MA candidate in the Department of Performance Studies at New York University. Under the larger theme of "performance," she developed a passion for the staged performing arts, especially musical theater, while studying theater theory and practice at Paris 8 University. She continued to work as an assistant director for seven youth musicals, plays, and concerts at Hakchon Theater company in Korea. She also was an assistant director and assistant stage manager for several theater productions in New York City. Her research interests include puppets and marionettes that fulfill particular functions in performances, such as re-creator, mediator, and presenter, by using different theatrical languages. Her research also involves the methods of directing, acting and manipulating in relation to the marionette.
