Ae Ran Jeong

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Ae Ran JEONG first acted for six years with Arirang Theater Ensemble developing her skills in traditional dance and song. She pursued her BFA (2004) in Acting/Theater at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada and her MA (2006) in Performance Studies at New York University under Richard Schechner. During this time she also participated in numerous workshops with Zigmund Molik, Ewa Benesz, Maud Robart, Jairo Cuesta and James Slowiak, Thomas Richards and Mario Biagini and Gay Pin. She has been also working with Eugenio Barba performing in Denmark, Italy and Poland Ur-Hamlet (2006, 2009) and The Marriage of Medea (2008). She obtained her Ph.D. (2016) in Theatre Studies/ Ethnoscenology at the University Paris 8 in France under Jean-François Dusigne. As a member of Korean percussion in Paris, Olsou, she performed across France, Belgium and North Africa notably Senegal.
