Ashton Tibbitt (MA ’22) is an arts administrator, writer, dramaturg, and creative producer. As Department Administrator for the Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU Tisch, Ashton supports a vibrant community of writers, educators, students, and professional artists. As a lyricist and librettist, Ashton wrote The Thieving Cactus, which premiered at BAM in 2024, and is currently developing an expanded version of the performance piece ±10 and a new play, TRASH.

Ashton also holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from NYU Tisch and is currently pursuing an MBA at NYU Stern. Outside of work, Ashton enjoys traveling, visiting national parks, spending time with their cat, Luna, and making maximum use of their AMC A-List membership.

Why PS @ NYU?
I chose Performance Studies at NYU in order to supplement my training in craft, with a strong foundation in critical thought and analysis. Arts wield the power to shape discourse and culture. I want to make sure that the art that I create has a strong sense of awareness of what it could do, and to do so as responsibly as possible.
