Asya is a theatre critic, photographer, and filmmaker, pursuing a master’s degree in Performance Studies at NYU. Asya graduated with an MA in Arts Criticism from Smolny College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the joint program of the Saint Petersburg State University (Russia) and Bard College. She also holds a BA in Performing Arts from Smolny College. 

During her studies in Russia, Asya focused on modern European cinema, psychoanalytic theories of film, and video art. She is currently interested in studying the “role” of the audience in participatory performance. 

Asya writes reviews of immersive and virtual performances on NoProscenium and has her own YouTube vlog, Body Slash Text, in which she shares her experience as an audience member.
