Academic Advising
Upon entering the master's program students are assigned a full-time faculty mentor to discuss their academic, research and career plans while they are matriculated in the program. They also have a graduate adviser (Director of Admin/Academic Services) to help with class selection, schedule changes, transfer credits and to track their degree progress.
Students can make appointments with any of our faculty members by signing up for office hours in the Office Hours binder, located at the front desk or bycalling our main number 1-212-998-1620 to make appointments once office hours have been announced.
Remember that advising & mentoring is a year-long process and students are required to meet with faculty/staff throughout the year and most especially during the designated graduate advising periods listed below:

M.A. students are only permitted to register and get credit for up to two courses outside the department major during their academic career. The course(s) must be a 4.0 point graduate-level academic course and requires a signed external course approval form. Students are responsible for locating these courses through the Course Search feature on Albert. A few departments to consider are Art & Public Policy at Tisch, Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at GSAS and the Media, Culture and Communication Department at the NYU Steinhardt School of Education. Please keep in mind that many of these graduate programs have restrictions to their courses for non-majors, so please contact the specific department directly for course listings and registration instructions. It is recommended that you take your outside course(s) (if applicable) during the Spring term, when you have a larger class limit.
When offered, PERF-GT 2730 and PERF-GT 4260 Performance Composition are the only practical workshops that count toward the Performance Studies M.A. degree. The Director of Graduate Studies must approve any other practical courses at NYU when Performance Composition is not offered.
Drop/Add Policy
During the first two weeks of classes each Fall and Spring semester, Performance Studies students may drop/add courses on Albert.
To drop/add after the first three weeks, Masters students must consult with Admin Director to get access to the NYU Drop/Add form, for any changes after the September 15th drop deadline.
Tuition Bill and Payment Deadlines
After registration has been completed a tuition bill will be generated and sent out via e-mail by the NYU Bursar with instructions on how to access your bill, make payment arrangements and view any pertinent payment deadlines. The NYU Bursar, Financial Aid, and ID Center are located at the NYU Student Center at 383 Lafayette Street at 4th Street.
