Walter Murch Discusses New Film COUP 53 with Open Arts Students

Students in Brane Živković's Portrait of an Artist: Walter Murch have already had their first opportunity to share a videoconference with the man himself!  

Said student Henry Yuliano: "Mr. Murch, as softspoken, eloquent, and refined as always, answered students' questions one by one as he sat at his dining room table at his flat in London. Topics ranged from "killing your darlings" in editing, to specific methods he and director George Lucas used to manipulate sound in the 1973 film American Graffiti, to the types of shoes he wore while editing to make his trademark standing more comfortable (Nike Pegasus 33's, "They're great!" Mr. Murch told us). The three time Academy Award winner also described his current project to the class, Coup 53 (directed by Taghi Amirani), a documentary about the 1953 efforts by the CIA to install a new dictatorial regime in Iran..."
