Voidopolis is coming out this fall with MIT Press Leonardo Series / Penguin Random House as a first-of-its-kind augmented reality book. Voidopolis is a hybrid digital artistic and literary project in the form of an augmented reality book, which retells Dante’s Inferno as if it were set in pandemic-ravaged New York City. Meant to culminate in loss, its garbled pages can only be deciphered through a bespoke AR app published along with the book. Meant to culminate in loss, these digital AR components decay over time the way memory might, leaving behind foggy imagery and half-remembered bits of language.
