Dear ITP Community and Friends,
Perhaps it is a bit too secret but for those of us in the know, it is obvious that the ITP students and alumni, individually and collectively, make an incredible impact on this world. They are constantly inventing new ways to bring delight and joy to the world, educating people, working towards a more just and equitable world, creating art which illuminates our world, starting businesses which solve problems, and everything in between. In short, the work they do is meaningful and important.
Whether you are an alumnus, faculty, friend of the department, or simply someone that has attended one of our end of semester events, you probably know all of that already! Having said that, we could use some help. Which brings me to the reason I am writing to you today:
We are in the midst of undertaking an effort with the goal of concerted and sustained support of the diversity of students in our department, particularly those who have been underrepresented in the past. In order to do this though, we need to raise significant funds for scholarships.
You are undoubtedly aware that attending ITP is unfortunately quite expensive and out of reach for many. We plan to change that and are working on a variety of ways to tackle the issue but central to those efforts has to be fundraising.
With this in mind, I am writing to see if you would be willing to contribute with a tax-deductible donation to the Red Burns Fund today to help support ITP students of the future.
Through the end of this year, our beloved and now retired colleague Nancy Hechinger will be matching all donations up to a total of $100k as her retirement gift to the students. Now would be a great time to double your impact and help Nancy meet her goal. #GivingTuesday.
Wishing you all the best,
