Yiyang Cao

Yiyang Cao (b. 1991, China) is a Brooklyn-based new media artist born and raised in Hangzhou, China. She received her BFA in Film/Animation/Video at Rhode Island School of Design, and is working on her MA in Interactive Media Arts at NYU Tisch. Through media installations and live audiovisual performances, Yiyang’s work investigates the posthuman body, virtual existence, and immortality. She utilizes a wide range of video techniques in her work including analog video synthesis, computer-based generative visuals, 3D animation, and creative coding. She has exhibited across the world including US, Japan, Mexico, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark, and has performed at Unsound Festival, ISSUE Project Room (New York), Knockdown Center (New York), Interzone Festival, and many underground shows in New York.
