ITP Community Day: Web Accessibility
Join us for an interactive 2-part session on web accessibility as we discuss guidelines, tools and techniques that allow us to build better websites accessible to all. The session will be hands-on and will include a workshop in which participants audit and make necessary changes to the websites they manage.
Bring your own laptops and headphones to the session.
In the first hour, we will go over the following:
- Principles of Web Accessibility: Building Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR) web sites.
- Screen-readers and other accessibility tools
- HTML Accessibility Techniques
- Accessibility in Wordpress websites
- Tools for testing your website
The second half will be reserved for participants to individually audit the websites they manage. We will run basic audits of our own websites, and make adjustments accordingly.
