Welcome to IMA Students and Karkhana Learning Labs

Headshot of Dipeshwor Man Shrestha

In September 2013, NYU Shanghai opened its doors to its inaugural freshmen class and launched the Interactive Media Arts (IMA) Program — or the undergraduate version of ITP. Now in its third year, IMA has nearly 230 students registered in classes on the Shanghai campus and many students from the inaugural class (now juniors) are here in New York studying in programs across the University.  Please join this very special Social Hour to bring ITP and IMA students together starting at 6pm!

This event will be followed by a Special Event at 6:45pm by Dipeshwor Man Shrestha, Director, Karkhana Learning Labs (Kathmandu).  In April 2014, Professors Tom Igoe (ITP), Marianne Petit (ITP/IMA), and Matthew Belanger (IMA) had the pleasure of meeting the Karkhana team at Maker Faire Shenzhen. So impressed by their work we all voyaged to Kathmandu the following year to see their remarkable work on the ground.

He’ll also share some insights from his experience teaching middle school kids and Karkhana’s efforts to foster a maker based education in Nepal.
