Sofia Camargo
Sofia Camargo is the winner of the 2020 Jeff Lima Production Award.
Camargo’s film, First Communion, is a short film about the nuances of friendship, play and religious belief in adolescence. It’s a sensory exploration of curiosity and cruelty in girlhood, set in a private Catholic school in Colombia.
The Jeff Lima Production Award was created by Jeff Lima to help support NYU Tisch Grad Film work that advances the Latinx presence on screen. This year’s jurors were Sunny Hostin (The View, Girls Trip), Andrea Navedo (Jane the Virgin, Bright) and Alana de la Garza (FBI, FBI: Most Wanted). They have expressed their sincere gratitude to all filmmakers who have embraced the call to action for the advancement of Latinx representation in film.
