Alumni Laura Moss and Ash Mayfair have made the shortlist for this year's Breaking Through The Lens.
Breaking Through The Lens is an initiative launched three years ago to promote emerging female directors. The shortlisted projects are vying to participate in the 3rd edition of Breaking Through The Lens’ pitching platform at Cannes Film Festival; final selections will be pitched to over 100 financiers and key industry people during the festival.
Laura Moss’ Birth/Rebirth is an all-female modern day redux of the Frankenstein story, the screenplay for which won her a fellowship at the 2020 Sundance Screenwriting Labs.
Ash Mayfair’s Skin of Youth is an all-consuming love story between a transgender singer and a dog-cage fighter set in 1990s Saigon, Vietnam.
The final list will be announced in early April.
