Kristian King

Kristian King

Graduate Film has selected Dual Degree producing candidate Kristian King as this year's recipient for the Media Services Producing Award. The honor, which is selected by producing faculty, is given to a Graduate Film candidate in the third year of the program for producing an outstanding body of films over their course of studies.

King has produced a wide-ranging group of shorts since entering Grad Film in 2016.

”My goal as a producer has been to support stories that I didn’t get much exposure to growing up outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Stories about diversity in terms of gender, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, etc. are the types of film I want to see put out into the world," King said. "It’s so important that we hear these voices, because so many people rarely have the chance to see their lives and experiences reflected on the screen."

“This is a well-deserved award for Kristian,” said Barbara Shock, Chair of Graduate Film. “With her generous spirit, keen foresight, and passionate disposition to share meaningful stories, she has a very bright future in the film industry. We want to thank Media Services for this generous grant, which helps more students pursue careers in producing.”

Directors that King has partnered with said the following:

“She is the definition of a creative producer, and I believe any project she comes onto will bloom with her insight, passion, and strong collaborative skills.” -Raven Jackson

“Kristian treats everyone on set with dignity and respect, whether it’s award-winning actors or first-time PAs.  Kristian is involved creatively in her producing projects from script to final cut and she does not withhold her insightful feedback.” -Evan Dale Karg

“During production, Kristian was unflappable.  Her dedication to the crew, her calm disposition and her ease with budgets and cutting costs was key to the production’s success.” -Aimee Schaefer
