The Cannes Film Festival has revealed its lineup for the year, and a number of the celebrated filmmakers are members of the Grad Film community.

Alum Kirill Mikhanovsky's comedy Give Me Liberty has been chosen to screen at the prestigious 51st Directors' Fortnight. Past features that have premiered in this section include alum Chloe Zhao's The Rider and alum Debra Granik's Leave No TraceGive Me Liberty first played in Sundance 2019's NEXT category.

Recent alum Danielle Lessovitz's debut feature Port Authority will premiere in the Un Certain Regard competition of Cannes. The Martin Scorcese-produced film, whose director of photography is alum Jomo Fray, centers around a ballroom love story set in New York City. Cannes 2019 will be Lessovitz's second credit at the world's biggest film event, as her screenplay for Mobile Homes premiered in the Directors' Fortnight section at the festival in 2017.

Additionally, alum Cris Gris' short film "San Miguel," for which alum Sheldon Chau served as the director of photography, was invited to screen as part of Cannes' La Semaine de La Critique. Alum Jonas Carpignano will be a judge for the program.

Cannes' Opening Night Film is alum Jim Jarmusch's highly anticipated The Dead Don't Die, for which cinematography professor Fred Elmes served as the director of photography. The movie is also in competition.

The 2019 Festival will take place from May 14 to 25.
