ADRIAN CARDENAS is a Cuban-American writer/director from Miami, FL. After a seven-year career in baseball, reaching the Major Leagues with the Chicago Cubs, he quit the game he loved to pursue an even greater love for storytelling. He graduated summa cum laude from NYU with degrees in creative writing and philosophy, and has written articles for the New Yorker and CNN.  In 2019, he received his MFA in film from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Adrian’s films have screened at top festivals and on online platforms including SXSW, Atlanta, Miami, Palm Springs, DC Shorts, and have been selected as Vimeo ‘Staff Picks’. His thesis short, The Artisan, was the first Cuban film ever featured on ‘Short of The Week’.  Most recently, he was selected as a Marcie Bloom Fellow—a mentoring program with Sony Pictures Classics designed to introduce up-and-coming filmmakers to the film industry.  Adrian is in development for his debut feature, The Story of the Whale.
