This is a Master’s Degree program. You must have a Bachelor’s Degree or be in the process of completing your Bachelor’s Degree in order to be considered for the program. Exceptions have been made but they are very rare. If you have a question about this please contact Graduate Admissions.

No. Anyone with a Bachelor’s Degree is welcome to audition. If you don’t have any theatre/acting experience, you are still a viable candidate. The most important element is what you bring in the audition.
We hold four information sessions each fall on campus. Attendees of the info sessions will receive a Student Discount to our 3rd year shows.
We encourage prospective students to attend our productions. This is a great way to experience our program.
No. Individuals of all ages are welcome to apply as long as they hold a bachelor’s degree.
We accept 16 students each year.
The application opens September 15th and must be submitted by January 1st. If you miss this deadline but still wish to audition, we will accept walk-in applicants in New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
The program is 3 consecutive years

No, but we do have a large network of current students and alumni who are often subletting their apartments or looking for roommates.
There is an application fee of $65 and an audition fee of $50.
If you would like to request an application fee waiver, please contact Joseph Miserendino at email@example.com and he can let you know what the procedure is. In your email, be prepared to explain the nature of the hardship and provide evidence supporting your request for a waiver.
You will need two letters of recommendation. If you would like to include three, you are welcome to but it is not required.
We ask that all Letters of Recommendation be submitted by the time of your audition.
If you are unable to submit your official transcripts as a PDF, you can submit unofficial transcripts. However, if invited to attend Callbacks, you must submit official transcripts.
No. Please bring your personal statement with you to your audition.
If you are an applicant who lives outside the United States, you can upload your initial audition on YouTube. Your video must include a brief introduction, four monologues (no longer than 2 minutes each) and an a cappella song. If you cannot access YouTube, you may submit a DVD, (which must be playable on an American system, Region 1 NTSC,) as well as a copy of your headshot, resume and personal statement to the address in the e-mail.
Prepare 4 monologues - 2 contemporary and 2 classical.
It’s always helpful to embrace the idea of contrast: one serious, one comic; or anything that shows us you can be one kind of character and then another. We recommend that one monologue be in verse.
Prepare to sing 16 bars of a song acapella. This is just to see where you are with your voice. The song can be anything from a Broadway Classic to Happy Birthday, so pick something you are comfortable with.
Bring your headshot, resume, and personal statement.
This question has gone under much debate, and often is considered “Classical” for one audition may be “Modern” for another. Classical pieces are pieces in which the author was born before the 1800s.
The song is not to see if you are a singer, but to see where your voice is and if you are capable of acting through a song.
